Frater Frank Sanders, Grand Province Advisor

Frater Frank Sanders was appointed as Grand Province Advisor for the TKE Georgia Province by Grand Prytanis Robert L. Planck in July 2001. He was re-appointed by Grand Prytanis Mark C. Romig in August 2003, by Grand Prytanis Mark A. Fite in August 2005, and by Grand Prytanis Mark Johnson in August 2007..

Frater Frank SandersFrater Frank accepted our TKE Bond in November of 1998 at our Lambda-Upsilon Chapter at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia, where he earned his B.S. in Political Science in 1991.  He is a graduate of the United States Senate Youth Program and a recipient of the William Randolph Hearst Scholarship in Political Science.  A graduate of the University of Georgia School of Alcohol and Drug Studies, Frater Frank is an active advocate of drug & alcohol abuse prevention and treatment.  He is also active in the hospice-care movement and is a certified hospice care volunteer trainer. Frater Frank is currently enrolled in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University in Atlanta, working towards his Masters Degree in Public Administration.

As a collegiate member, Frater Sanders served as Rush Chairman, House Manager, Crysophylos, Hegemon, and Prytanis. As an alumnus, he has served as Chapter Advisor for both our Lambda-Upsilon (Georgia Southern) and Gamma-Psi (Butler University) Chapters.  He has also served as Chairman of the Board of Advisors at Lambda-Upsilon since 1997 and serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Lambda-Upsilon Alumni Association. He has twice been named as the Lambda-Upsilon “Alumnus of the Year” and, in 1998, was recognized as the “Chapter Advisor of the Year” by the Greek community at Georgia Southern University.  In March 1994, he was acknowledged for his “high standard of leadership in interfraternity activities,” by being extended honorary membership in the National Greek Honorary, Order of Omega.  Grand Prytanis Planck awarded Frater Sanders the “Grand Prytanis Key Leader” award at the 2003 Conclave in Dallas, Texas.  He was also recognized as the TKE “Volunteer of the Month” in June 2005. 

Frater Frank served as a member of the TKE professional staff from 1989 to 1995, serving as Regional Director, Director of Leadership Development, and as Senior Director of Chapter Services & General Manager. He planned and coordinated the 1991, 1993, and 1995 Conclaves of the Fraternity, over 30 Regional Leadership Conferences, and countless meetings of the Grand Council and TEF Board of Directors.  He served as editor of the 1995 edition of The Teke Guide and personally led the effort to return the publication to its current hardbound format.  He also served from 1991-1995 as the editor of The Teke Magazine.

Frater Frank served as the lead facilitator for TKE Leadership Academy XX and has served as a member of the facilitation team for TKE Leadership Academy III, IV, V, XII, XVI, XVIII, XIX, XX, and XXI.  He has also served as the chairman of the TKE Leadership Academy Board of Governors.

Frater Sanders was inducted into the TKE Knights of Apollo (KOA) in 1990, earned his Certified Fraternity Consultant (CFC) in 1991, was inducted into the TKE Southern Order of Honor in 1993, and is a charter member of the Life Loyal Teke program. He is currently in his sixth two-year term as treasurer of Southern Greek Housing, Inc., the 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that owns and operates the Greek Row Housing Community at Georgia Southern University.  To date, Frater Frank has completed nearly 500 chapter and campus visits on behalf of TKE.  In January 2000, he established, through the TKE Educational Foundation, the Clarence Butler Scholarship for Lambda-Upsilon Chapter, in tribute to the first initiate of his home chapter.  He is an annual donor to the TKE Educational Foundation and is a member of the TKE Heritage Society.

As a current member of the Board of Directors for the TKE Atlanta Alumni Association, he led the effort in 2004 and 2005 to raise more than $7,000 to establish the TKE Georgia Province Scholarship of Excellence through the TKE Educational Foundation, which was awarded for the first time in January 2005 to a TKE collegiate member in the Georgia Province.  Frater Frank has also been active in the effort to raise funds for the Ronald & Nancy Reagan Research Institute of the Alzheimer’s Association, serving as co-chairman of an annual TKE Founders’ Day event that to date has raised over $16,000 for Alzheimer’s research.

Frater Frank served as chairman of the TKE Housing Committee (1997-1999) and as chairman of the TKE Expansion Committee (1999-2001).  He is a member of the Association of Fraternity Advisors (AFA) and has served as a member of the AFA Long-Range Planning Committee.  Frank is also a Master Mason and a member of Ogeechee Lodge No. 213 F&AM in Statesboro, Georgia.

Professionally, Frater Sanders serves as the director of relationship development for act3, a St. Louis-based creative design studio that uses technology to create customized story-driven communication.  Clients include Bennigan’s, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, HBO, Johnson & Johnson, and Prentice Hall, among others. Frater Frank currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
